OM's full back was very moved by the drama that has touched the clubs supporters. "It's touched the heart of Marseille. We are going to fight for them and for those who are still in difficulty" he states, two days before the game against Brann Bergen.
The game against Le Havre was strong with emotion …
It was emotional because of the drama that has touched the heart of Marseille. The players, directors, staff, employees and supporters are one big soul. We were all affected by this and it was difficult to prepare for the game especially after the minutes silence in front of the supporters. There was an overload of emotion and sadness. We played and won the game but it’s just an anecdote compared to the drama that went on and the fact that there are still people in a critical state. Our hearts go out to them, we’ll give them all the support we can. It’s difficult but we have to keep going.
You have the game against Brann Bergen coming up, you be playing for your future in Europe in this match…
It’s a high stakes match, indeed. The first part in Norway went off well. It’s up to us to put in the same performance at home. But it will be different, we’ll have to go all out to take control of the match and win it. We want to win all our games and Brann is just one of them. We aren’t feeling any pressure, we’re just trying to concentrate on what we have to do. It’s Monday, we’re taking advantage and recuperating as we played two days ago. We aren’t going to play the match in our heads. We know that the qualification is important but we have to think about our game, that is the most important.
In the first game against Bergen, OM refound a solid defence and since then you have not conceded any goals …
When you concede four goals in a game it’s a like a huge slap! Everyone asked themselves questions. We were able to look at our performance and try and do better as our game against Le Havre didn’t reflect the talent of our players. We tried to get on and do our job, we gotten stronger by building up the ties between the players. Against Rennes, we were not united even though we were all trying to do well. We’re trying to be more concentrated and find a little more cohesion, but it satrts with the keeper and goes through every line right through to the strikers. Everyone is working in that sense.
Against Brann, you’ll be playing with thoughts for the supporters that left us on Saturday morning and for the numerous injured people …
It will give us extra motivation. It’s a tragic event that is difficult to get over. We’ll try and give all we have on the field in their memory, as OM is one indivisible soul. We are going to fight for them and for those who are still in difficulty today.
