Just after having stepped off the plane which brought him from Munich to Marseille, the Brazilian forward took a few minutes to answer our questions.
Brandao arrived in Marseille on Tuesday evening in the company of OM’s general secretary, Julien Fournier. His flight, LH4368, from Munich landed at the Marignane airport at around 21h30. In a dark overcoat and with a cap pulled firmly down on his head, the Brazilian giant (1m90) spoke to us of his first impressions.
The Brazilian forward, for whom OM and his club Shakhtar Donetsk have reached an agreement regarding a transfer, will go through the traditional medical examination on Wednesday before signing his contract.
How do you feel now that you have arrived in Marseille?
I’m very happy to be joining up with this squad. I will be giving all that I have in order to progress within the team.
What do you know about Olympique de Marseille?
It is an exceptional club. I’m a fighter and I cannot wait to start playing for this team.
Are you aware that a lot is expected of you?
I’m delighted to be here. I’m going to fight and the pressure doesn’t scare me at all.
Are you impatient to start playing?
On Wednesday, I have to have my medical and will take part in training. I was on holiday in Brazil for around three weeks but I have been training there and yes I can’t waitr to start playing, very much so.
In Marseille, the supporters are very passionate, just like in Brazil …
I can’t wait to get out in front of them and will give them my all. I think that OM are the biggest club in France, it’s a bit like Flamengo in Brazil. There is a lot of passion here and I want to get myself integrated as quickly as possible, in order to give the suppoprters the pleasure they deserve.
