Didier Deschamps will be manager of OM as of next season. The 1998 World Champion has signed a two year contract and will take up his position in June of this year.
A meeting between the President of the club and the majority shareholder last Friday was held in order to make this choice definitive.
After Erik Gerets, the club could only allow itself to bring in a high calibre manager in order to continue the great amount of work which has already been achieved and the sporting development of the the club. In function of the established criteria, the choice of Didier Deschamps whose playing and managerial careers speak for themselves, seemed to be the natural choice.

This changes in no way, shape or form, as pointed out by Robert Louis-Dreyfus, that the objective of everyone involved with the club is to do everything within their power to win the L1 title. With this in mind, the club knows that it will be able to count on Erik Gerets, an accomplished professional, whose determination and competence will be decisive in the race for the title of French champions.
