Transfer

Official: Agreement reached for Gabriel Heinze

An agreement has been reached between OM, Real Madrid and Gabriel Heinze for the transfer of the defender to OM with a 3 year contract.

Even if his arrival is dependant on the traditional medical examination, Gabriel Heinze is in the process of becoming OM’s tenth recruit during the current transfer window. During the presentation to the Press of Fernando Morientes and Fabrice Abriel, at the start of the week, José Anigo confirmed that a defender would be joining the club soon. This should come to pass in the next few days as the Argentine international will soon arrive in Marseille.
At 31 years of age, Gabriel Ivan Heinze played over 100 games for PSG at the start of the years 2000. This robust player can be positioned either in the centre or on the left of the defence. Well known for his virile engagement, he never hesitates going into a tackle.
After France, he moved on to the UK and Manchester United where he spent three seasons before moving to Real Madrid. It was in England and Spain that he built up his collection of winners medals with two national titles and two Super Cups. An Argentine international since the 30th of April 2003, he won the Olympic gold medal in 2004 and was part of the team, coached by Diego Maradonna, which defeated, 2-0, at the Vélodrome on the 11 of February 2009 (see photo below).
