Olympian midfielder Benoit Cheyrou was back in action alongside his teammates at the RLD Training Complex on Monday, and he revealed the work load at the moment is all about working out!
A pre-season camp at Port-Crouesty?
“Pre-season camps are always very tough going for the body. But we have done a bit of work over the holidays. Our time off has been quite long compared to the World Cup. It’s important to work yourself up slowly but surely and that’s what we’ve done. It’s also a little cooler here than it is in Marseille and that doesn’t hurt.”
The win against Vannes?
“It isn’t in games like that that you can gauge the true value of a team. Above all, it was important for us, to get back into the swing, meet the new players and get back into the rhythm of playing matches. But the priority at the moment is all about getting physically ready. With each friendly match, our play will improve. We’re still waiting for the internationals to get back, then there could be some new signings and we’ve got plenty of time to work on the technical and tactical sides. The important thing or the moment is the physical side. We’ll keep working on it this week in Marseille and just hope it isn’t too hot.”
What are the aims and objectives?
”For the moment, I’m feeling really good. My own goals will be the same as the club: stay consistent and defend our two titles.”
