In the OMtv studios during the programme "Experts OM" with Dominique Grimault, the OM manager toook a look back at the news of the last few days surrounding OM.
Bordeaux, the real starting point
"Things did not start in Bordeaux. This was already match four in the season. Fortunately there was significant progress between Lorient and Bordeaux and matches against Caen and Valenciennes, but we only have four points. It does not really reassure me to see the big teams are there too. Toulouse have 12 points and Rennes 8 points. It's already a lot and it will take a lot of games to catch them up".
OM show solidarity
"We already saw it away to Valenciennes when we were 3-0 down and there was a reaction. Against Lorient (2-0), it was not easy either but now new players have arrived and others have recovered their physical deficit. But we cannot say that the month of August has been quiet with so many events. The biggest was the departure of Mamad ', our best player and top scorer of L1. But since, we have brought in two young international (Remy & Gignac) with great potential as is also the case for Azpi.
(...) I know the team has great potential. It is up to my staff and I to draw it out to the maximum by the end of the season".
Brandao is back
"He did not surprise me and he knows it. I have maybe spoken to him a little more over the last few days but, and he can say it, since my arrival I have always had confidence in him and I know my team needs him. I know what he gives to the team, the goals he scores and creates".
Disturbing refereeing
"What I can say is that I have an unpleasant feeling. And I said that to Mr. Layec who deals with the referees. Compared to the title last season and the decisions that were sometimes in our favour, I feel that it has changed this season. Even if this does not put in question our defeats. Already in Valenciennes, Bong should have been sent off after ten minutes for his attack on Valbuena. Bordeaux certainly could certainly have benefited from a penalty kick on Sunday but we must see things in chronological order. There was a penalty on Ayew before that should have lead to the exclusion of Chalmé. I will not discuss the red card given to Edouard (Cisse) even if it was severe.
But when the referee considers that Brandao has tried to trick him, he makes him step off the pitch and takes two minutes to let him back on while in the same situation for Fernando, he shakes the hand of the player, there are too many differences in two similar situations! I am not asking for favorable decisions but, since the beginning of the season, there have been many negative decisions and some of which were unfair with significant consequences. "
"Since the start of the season there have been many negative decisions and some which were downright unfair"
The recruits
"Loic (Remy) has put in a good week of work and the events he has been through must have given him even more conviction. He possesses speed and power, which is very important in modern football, adding a nice state of mind because he is very generous.
(On the similarities with Thierry Henry) He has a false air of Titi and similar qualities, but Titi preferred the left side and it was perhaps a little more athletic. And his career was a little more linear. But Loïc is only 23 years old, has many qualities and a nice room for improvement if he keeps his feet on the ground".
On Gignac: "He also has very good potential that has sometimes been slowed by injuries. He is not yet completely up to speed with the rhythm, but as he is staying here this week, he will be able to work well and it will be better after this mini-break. "
The end of the transfer window
"It's the end of speculation and all players present will be until at least December 31. But everything will start again in January. "
The great difficulties getting started
"The explanations are different. For us, the transfer market has been delayed and players arrived at different times which held them back. It's the same problem in Lyon who also have many players who participated in the World Cup as well as important players who are injured. Paris have had a good start, but like Lille, they have the problem of the Europa League. Playing on Thursday is atrocious. Last year for example, we played Benfica and Copenhagen and it is one of the rare times in my career where I was almost glad to be eliminated. "
