INTERVIEW EXCLUSIVE DE DJIBRIL CISSE
We were with Djibril Cissé when his surgeon gave his the go-ahead to play. His exclusive reaction.

So Djibril, are you relieved to get the doctor’s go-ahead?
Yes, after an absence of six months, I will be able to take the fields of the French Championship, notably the Stade Vélodrome. I was aching to play.

How do you feel after this great news?
I’m very happy. But I will be even happier if I play on Saturday.

Six months out is a long time, how did you get through it?
It was pretty tough, especially considering that I spent six months out at Liverpool as well. It was toughest mentally, but thanks to God, my family, my wife, my mother, my sisters and my brother, I made it through okay. Most of it happens on your head and mentally, I am doing well at the moment.

your mentality is one of your strengths…
It’s kind of what makes me who I am, my desire and my passion, and today, thanks to God, everything is going okay.

You have already taken part in a match against Martigues on Tuesday, how was it for you?
I felt great and had a great understanding with my team-mates for a first match. My afternoon was capped with a goal, so it was a good day.

Given the go-ahead by your surgeon, now you just need it from Albert Emon…
That’s right. The surgeon didn’t say there was no risk, there never is, even if you are 100% fit, but he did say that the injury is behind me now. Mentally and physically, I feel ready.
