Agreement reached with AJA and Benoît Cheyrou

OM has reached an agreement with Auxerre as well as with Benoît Cheyrou for the player’s transfer to Marseille. After passing a medical examination in the next few days, he will sign a contract for 4 years.

An agreement has been reached with both AJ Auxerre on one hand and Benoît Cheyrou on the other for the player to come to Marseille on a contract of 4 years.
The agreement is subject to the customary medical examination that Benoît Cheyrou must undergo in the coming days before his official signing.

“I’m very pleased with the arrival of Benoît Cheyrou at Olympique de Marseille,” OM President Pape Diouf indicated, “he is a player of strong character and much talent who can bring balance to our midfield.”

Capable of playing several different midfield roles, Benoît Cheyrou has a range of important qualities, notably the advantage of being left-footed. At 26 years old, the former U-21 international has spent his career so far at Lille, where he made his L1 debut in 2000, and then Auxerre since 2004. Playing 34 matches last season, all as captain, he scored 3 goals. His brother Bruno Cheyrou was loaned to OM by Liverpool in season 2004-05.
