Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda attended his first OM training session on Tuesday at the training camp in Divonne-les-Bains. We bring you the new recruit’s first reactions.
So Steve, how was your first OM training session?
Very good. The keepers got to training first today and I had a chance to meet the coaches and the other 2 keepers. Then we hooked up with the rest of the squad and it went really, really well.
Your arrival took some time to arrange. What was the decisive factor?
It was worked out pretty much by OM and Le Havre, I kind of stayed out of it. But from the beginning my objective was to come to OM, so I’m really happy that the move came about.

The squad gets along well. There’s a good atmosphere, they’re great guys. Here it’s all about winning, it’s the big-time and I like it like that.”
What does OM represent for you?
Like all kids my age, I was part of the generation that saw OM win the Champions League. It’s the biggest club in France and one of the biggest in Europe. So I’m really happy to be here.
Was that what made you choose OM over the other clubs chasing your signature?
Absolutely. OM is OM. When you’re little, you dream of OM. Now, I’m here and I feel great.
After Le Havre and the France U-21 team, is this a new stage in your career?
Exactly. I want to take it to the next level and this is a huge step. So for me, it’s all good.
