Grandin : «Still on a good run»

26/02/08 - OM-Auxerre

OM's newest recruit is disappointed with the result of the game against Toulouse (0-0) even if he was in the starting line-up. «We are going to have two games in a row at home, we will have to prepare well and take home all 6 points» he states.

How did you prepare for the game against Toulouse when you knew you would be in the starting line-up?
Well. We knew that we would be playing a lot of games in a short space of time and the coach wanted to try a bit of squad rotation to freshen things up a little. We found out who would be playing during the afternoon and the coach told us to go out and play like we knew we could. Toulouse needed points and they kept the game tight.

What did OM lack in order to make the difference?
We just didn’t find any solutions against a team defending as a solid block. Apart from Elmander and Emana who moved around a bit up front, Toulouse had everyone behind the ball. It wasn’t easy. We tried to turn things round by bringing on Djibril (Cissé), as Akalé was all alone up front. We just lacked a bit of luck.

What did the coach ask of you before the game?
We wanted to win the game. We controlled the match but were unable to finish off the chances we had. Our instructions were to take home the three points.

We get the feeling that you are disappointed by the outcome …
Yes, as we have an objective, which is the third place in the League. We know we can’t make anymore mistakes and we have to take all the points from our home games. It’s not going to be easy, we will have to keep working hard and a victory over Toulouse would have done us the world of good.

"After the draw against Toulouse, all we want is to take all three points from the next game "

Is it one point won or two points lost?
I think it’s two points lost as we are very frustrated.

Could this result put the brakes on your ambitions?
We’re still on a good run in the league, with a series of wins and one draw. We would have liked to have kept on winning … We are going to have two games in a row at home, we will have to prepare well and take home all 6 points.

How are you going to prepare the match against Auxerre ?

Those who have played a lot of games will have to rest. We have to give everything we have to win the match. After the draw against Toulouse, all we want is to take all three points from the next game.

How do you feel, personally, in the group?
I get on really well with everybody, I’m definitely part of the group now. I’m enjoying life at the moment and when the team wins or draws, I celebrate alongside everyone.
