In his press conference this Thursday morning, the coach gave his opinion on the arrival of Loïc Rémy whose transfer to OM has been agreed on with Nice.
Didier, what is your opinion of Loïc Rémy whose transfer to OM is going through at the moment?
He’s a young international with a great deal of potential. He has a great deal of qualities and a lot of room for improvement. He is a player with interesting potential and the adaptability to play in a number of positions across the attack. I’m expecting him to perform and score goals. It’s good that he is adaptable even if he has a preference for a particular position. That will bring about a certain amount of competition for places, which is never a bad thing. He is pacy and strong, which makes him a danger for opposition defenders.
Are you relieved to have this reinforcement this morning?
I’m no more relieved than I was last night, as I already knew about it. It’s not a relief, it’s better as we have an extra player with different qualities. It’s a good thing. I’m happy that he is joining us, with all of his potential.
Could another striker come in and could it be Gignac?
It would be preferable in view of all the attacking departures and Hatem who I haven’t heard from this week. There was also Koné and Morientes even if you don’t count him, he was there. That left us light up front.
We are in discussions with players and we’ll see where they take us. As far as Gignac is concerned, he knows it, I consider him to be the L1 player with the greatest potential at centre forward.
