M'Bami: "I feel ready"

08/09/06 - PSG-OM

The most recent OM recruit, Modeste M’Bami could make his debut in an OM shirt against his former teammates of PSG. Whether he starts or not, he talks about his understanding with Lorik Cana and his integration into the squad…

Modeste, you are in the squad to travel to Paris. But we don’t know if you’re going to start or not. Would you be disappointed if you didn’t play against your old team?
No, not at all. It’s up to the coaching staff to decide. And, like I’ve already said, I haven’t joined Marseille just to play in this particular match. I’m already happy to be in the squad. After that… we’ll see.
At any rate, it will certainly be a special match for me. Just a week ago, I was still a PSG player. Now I wear Marseille’s colours. To play my first match in Marseille’s colours at the Parc des Princes would be something very special.

Does the thought of returning immediately to the Parc des Princes ut extra pressure on you?
I don’t read any special meaning into it. Since I arrived at OM I’m just trying to work well, the same as everybody else. Now it’s up to the coach to decide. For my part, I feel ready to start the match. If that’s the case, I’ll give 100%, if not, then it’s no problem because I know there’s a long way to go in the season.

In the current OM squad you have been reunited with Lorik Cana, your partner at PSG two years ago…
Lorik and I know each other well. Playing together for two seasons we created a great understanding in midfield. I’m sure we haven’t forgotten that understanding. Now, I have to adapt myself to Marseille’s style of play and the coach’s tactics. That will all come with a bit of time.
