Liverpool turning blue and white

A sign that kick-off is fast approaching: the centre of Liverpool is slowly but surely being invaded by Marseille fans. Check out the streets of the town…

Normally when Liverpool is turning blue, it’s the local Everton supporters. But today it’s a lighter shade of blue… the blue of OM, proudly marching the streets of Merseyside. The pubs in the pedestrian quarter of Albert Dock have been occupied by Olympian fans.

Nearly 2,000 have made the trip (5 planes and 15 coaches). The chants from the Vél and echoing around the city.

Since late morning it’s impossible to navigate the centre of town without coming across a friendly French face. Although the Liverpool Football Club official shop has certainly been a must-see for most of them.

Some fans stepped of high street to lay a little money on the result, or even the first goalscorer… Cissé, Niang and Cheyrou leading the way for the Phocéens, but long from the unbackable odds of Crouch, Torres and Gerrard.

But above all, the OM fans are dreaming of later in the day when they stride into Anfield...
