Karim Ziani wins his own Ballon d’or

The OM midfielder went to Algeria to receive the trophy for the Algerian Footballer of the Year. OMtv will be dedicating a special feature to him on Wednesday at 19:10 and 21:10.

After OM's draw away to Bordeaux, Karim Ziani and Jacques Faty flew to Algiers. The OM midfielder received, on Monday night, received the award for Algerian Footballer of the Year, organized by sports dailies 'Le Buteur' and 'El Haddaf'. OM President Pape Diouf was invited to the ceremony but was unable to attend due to his ongoing recovery from a recent back operation. The club was instead represented by legendary goal scorer Josip Skoblar. Karim was presented the award by former German international and 1990 World Cup winner Andreas Brehme.
This trophy recognizes the hard work Karim has put in throughout his career, but more notably during 2007, when his journey was crowned with a Coupe de France win with Sochaux. "It's been really emotional tonight as this really means a lot to me," Karim Ziani declared to the OMtv cameras. "It's fantastic to be recognized in your own country and also to be able to represent Algeria in France. I dedicate this trophy to my family because they have always been with me, in good moments and in bad."
