Julien Rodriguez has just renewed his contract with OM for another 3 years, linking him to the club until June 2012. His impressions…
Julien, you just extended your OM contract by 3 years. What were your reasons for doing so?
I feel good here. I can see that they have faith in me. Extending for 3 years when you’re almost 30 (he will turn 30 next June) is fantastic, and even better because I feel good here and I love the club. I get along well with the technical staff and the directors. Great things are afoot at Marseille and I hope they will lead to titles.
It’s certainly a vote of confidence but it also comes with a certain amount of responsibility…
As soon as I arrived here they made me well aware that there would be pressure, especially on me as one of the older players. I hope that, along with my team-mates, I can do what it takes to get results. Still, it’s great to play at a club where you know they have faith in you. Anyway, things happen really fast in football. You just need 3 or 4 bad performances and your place in the side is in question. For the moment, it’s going well for me, and I’m making the most of it, so yes, I’m very happy with this extension.
Do you hope to see out your career at OM?
I have 4 seasons left, counting the one currently under way. It’s long and short at the same time. It’ll be great to make the most of it. I’ll enjoy it with my family and I’ll have 4 years to give my all for the club. After that, we’ll see.
