The Marseille defender was back in training with the group on Friday. Ready for the match against Monaco, he does not want to commit the same "defensive errors" as were seen in the opening minutes of the match against Caen.
Julien, how are you feeling, over the little physical problems you had at the start of the week?
Not too bad, I had a few problems in my thigh and calf but we had 2 days off early in the week which helped me recuperate. Afterwards I did a bit of fitness work and I hope that everything will be fine for the games we have coming up.
So after having beaten them in December in the League you are up against your old team Monaco, this time in the Cup..
I’m really looking forward to playing against Monaco. I had 8 great years with them and it will be nice to see some of their people again. But, at the end of the day it is just another game against a team who play good football. It could be a good game even if the team has been more on the defensive since Ricardo took over. During the League game (last December, a 2-0 win for OM), we controled the situation well, profiting from the few chances that we had made all the difference. This time round it is a Cup match, the qualification could be more difficult .
Despite beating Caen last week the team showed some defensive frailties early on in the game. Can you tell us why?
Yeah we beat Caen, but we let them have far to many chances during the first 20 minutes. It could have been bad, we really could have been 2 or 3 goals down after just a few minutes.I think we made the errors at the back because we just were not aggressive enough. Personally i think I could have cleared the ball that led to their first goal if I had just been a little more aggressive. We managed to turn the situation around agianst Caen, but against Monaco we need to attack knowing that the defensive block is well in place. And if we have to go to extra time it will not be a problem as we have had more time off this week.
