Karim Ziani has been voted Marseille player of the month for November by the readers of OM.net. A first time for the Algerian international and a confirmation of his great form.

His strong comeback has now become a confirmed return to form. Karim Ziani has become an integral part of the OM first eleven over the course of the last few months. His first season at Marseille may have been difficult, but his second as seen him very much at ease and playing consistently well. To such a point that he has been voted player of the month for November by the readers of OM.net, taking 31% of the 15.000 votes cast. This is the first time the Algerian has achieved this since arriving at OM. It is the result of his search for redemption which started on the very eve of the new season.
«Ziani is driving people crazy at the moment, but in a good way as far as we are concerned. He’s really on fire » declared Gerets in July when asked if Ziani was going to be starting games or on the bench.

He has been in the starting line-up since the second match of the season against Auxerre (4-0) and has not left it since. The only thing that has kept him away from the first team was a groin strain that knocked him out for a couple of weeks. Even if his role is to get things moving in the middle of the field, he has some good stats for a midfielder, having scored twice against Sochaux and Lorient. «I’m a lot more confident. When the coach has faith in you, things are a lot easier. You really want to return that faith » he explained a few weeks ago.

Whether he is in the middle of the park or out on the right flank when the side use a diamond formation, his performances are the same.
If he keeps on the way he is going with the same style of play, the player of the month could pick up this type of award a few more times before the end of the season.
