After more than half of the season on the sidelines, Julien Rodriguez made his return to the playing field with OM on Sunday night against Besançon. He looks back on his return to competition and OM's qualification.
Julien, how do you feel after your comeback match?
I didn’t really have that much to do. It was mostly just mopping up at the back a few tackles and some duels in the air which were quite difficult. It wasn’t really the best game for getting back to match fitness, but I did it with pleasure.
The main thing was to go through. We didn’t come out looking like champions, but we’re qualified. Besançon come out looking much better as they managed to get a draw against us.
It was a difficult match to get through …
We spoke about it all before the match. We were prepared for it. After the goal we didn’t give up at any moment. We stayed focused and in place. We tried to create things down the wings principally. There were a few dangerous moments, even if we weren’t able to turn them into clear scoring chances. But, I don’t think we could have done any better on a pitch like that.
In the next round, OM will be up against either Concarneau (CFA2) or Lyon. Do you have a preference?
We’ll take whoever we get, we’ve qualified. Now it’s up to them to try and pass the test. And if it’s Lyon, then we’ll go to Gerland with pleasure to play out a great match.
