Current form, their stats against OM or the player to watch out for, here is all you need to know about Auxerre.
After a difficult 2008-09 season where they finished in 15th place, Auxerre’s fortunes have barely changed this year. In the same position (15th) after the first round of matches this season, the side from Burgundy have had a very complicated last two months. The last victory for Jean Fernandez’s men in the L1 now dates back to mid-November (against Sochaux, 1-0) and since then nothing more. In that time, they have lost on four occasions and drew once in the league scoring one single goal over the whole period!
Chronic inefficiency up front, this is the principal problem for the Auxerre side. Having scored only 14 goals since the start of the season, they possess the second worst attack level with Le Havre. Only Grenoble have scored less. It is not as if their forwards were unknown newcomers, Jelen, Niculae, Quercia and Oliech have, however, only scored 8 goals between the four of them.
Returning from a long period out through injury, Benoît Pedretti did start the side scoring again in the cup against Ajaccio, it was, however, insufficient to stop his team being knocked out on penalties. Auxerre are going through a very weak period at the moment and the match against OM could be the occasion for their front-men to wake up.
