Despite picking up an injury to his knee last week, Mamadou Niang is very motivated before Wednesday's Champions League match against Zurich. OM's last chance match according to the Senegalese forward.
Has the 3-0 win over Nancy given you more confidence?
It’s always good to go into the Champions League on the back of a win in the league. We put in a good performance against Nancy and we want to do the same here, if not better.
Are you aware of the importance of Wednesday’s match in view of a qualification …
We are all well aware that defeat is unacceptable. We’ve lost our first two matches in the Champions League and now we want to win in order to keep our hopes of qualification to the last 16 alive. If we win, wil will still be in with a chance come the return legs. If we lose things will be very complicated.
What do you think about Zurich’s win in Milan?
Anything is possible in this group even though I believe that Real are head and shoulders above everyone. Every team can beat any of the others. Zurich’s win against Milan proves that they are a very good side and it won’t be easy on Wednesday. We know all about our qualities and we know that it won’t be easy, but we will do all that we can in order to bring back the best result possible.
How is your knee?
I twisted it in training, but the medical staff and the physios took good care of me. Everything went well and I was well treated. I felt a little pain against Nancy but I really wanted to play and did everything to do so. Today everything is fine.
