No question of going easy

While idle tongues suggest OM could go easy in their match against Montpellier on Wednesday (18:00 CET), to harm Paris' title chances, OM coach Didier Deschamps reminded his squad that Marseille's honour meant more than all the pseudo-rivalries in the world...

I will never throw a game! Stop asking me because I'm out of patience!

It may be true that OM doesn't have much left to play for this season in Ligue 1. Montpellier are battling for the title with PSG and victory on Wednesday will move them three points clear of Carlo Ancelotti's men. And so? Should Les Olympiens just sit back and satisfy Montpellier's appetite in their very own home ground on the Boulevard Michelet? "I will never throw a game! Stop asking my about that because I'm running out of patience!" answered a clearly angry Didier Deschamps, frustrated at the very though of it. "As a coach, it's impossible to prepare my players for a match by telling them not to win, let alone telling them to lose. I will never operate like that, no way!"

Just days before the final of the Coupe de la Ligue, a crucial match for the club's hope of qualifying for next season's Europa League, the OM boss may decide to rest certain players and give other fresh legs their chance. So coach, can we expect changes? "I will be making changes. At least two," he added. It would appear he's referring to Remy, still struggling with a hamstring strain, and Azpi, also out with a hamstring strain and both will be left out in midweek. André Ayew could join them to give his sore shoulder a rest, even if he has stated his desire to play.
Didier Deschamps may opt to give certain players who haven’t featured much in recent weeks a chance to get some minutes against Montpellier. Kaboré, Gignac, J. Ayew... there are several options and they would clearly jump at the opportunity to shine before a big game.
