The Carquefou players are in dreamland today. «It still hasn’t sunk in yet. C’est extraordinaire ce qu’il nous arrive. We’d though about the possibility but to actually do it... I’m proud of my friends, my coach. I’m happy, everything is great » exclaims Sébastien Lepaih, midfielder in the team from the Loire-Atlantique. Him and his teammates went through something special with the public that filled the Beaujoire stadium : «At first we weren’t sure how the public were going to react. We didn’t know if they were going to be behind us but it was unbelievable. It was clear straight away that they were going to be with us right through the game and we couldn’t believe it. It went straight to our hearts » cofirms the goalkeeper, Alban Joinel.
The quarter finalists now realise just what they have achieved  : «It’s an earthquake that has hit the professional world of football, that’s all » continues Joinel, joined in his thoughts by the coach, Denis Renaud : «We prepared ourselves for what would be the hold up of the century. It’s really amazing. Already against Nancy it was huge, but I really didn’t think we would be able to work like that the full 90 minutes. I have a great group here at Carquefou and the players are always ready to listen.»
The people and the players of Carquefou know that there is a chance that they play another game at the Beaujoire in the quarter final, where they will be able to keep on dreaming.
