This season with OM, second place on the ladder and the last match at the Stade Vélodrome. Three questions for Kassim Abdallah.
What, in your opinion, have been the key ingredients to OM's success this campaign?
We have defended very well this season thanks to a very compact structure. With such a solid foundation, we had every confidence it would pay dividends. We also knew that we would always get a chance and could always score a goal. We transformed this principal into an objective and that saw us obtain the results we needed to finish second.
On a personal note, would you have liked to play more?
Obviously I would like to play more. If I said anything else, I'd be lying. But it's the coach's choice and I'm very happy with my current situation. The team has been very solid, very strong defensively, so the coach hasn't had much reason to change things. I am staying focused and awaiting my chance. When the coach has called on me, I have answered the call - that's the rule!
I have also learned a lot this season because Rod Fanni has been exceptional and should be congratulated for his performances. I'm behind him waiting my turn... I have stepped up a level since leaving Sedan. It's up to me to give it everything, to keep improving and push Rod Fanni all the way, but whatever happens, I will always accept the coach's decision in the end.
There are two matches left, including the last against Reims on 26 May. It's a symbolic date... where were you on 26 May 1993?
Twenty years ago I was watching on television like so many other supporters and I remember it very well because I was a huge fan of Jean-Pierre Papin. At the final whistle, I was really happy for OM, but I was devastated for Papin...
