Delighted with OM's performance on Saturday against Lorient (2-0), the Ghanaian announces that: "we cannot be reassured with one single victory".
In the starting line-up for the first three games, Andre Ayew was one of the symbols of OM’s conquering spirit rediscovered on Saturday against Lorient.
"Everyone was hungry and wanted to win, stated the Ghanaian, we started off with a great deal of desire and proved this by scoring early on."
A goal in which he was heavily involved - one week after winning a penalty away to Valenciennes - forcing Cappone into pushing the ball to the feet of Gaby Heinze, who fired home.
And even if after that opening goal, OM had a rough time, the 20-year old player and his teammates were pragmatic, helped out by a fantastic Mandanda. "Then, Lorient took hold of the match, but we were able to play with intelligence" he confirms.
A great solidarity, which allowed OM to double their lead through Taiwo.
"There is stiIl room for improvement, but I think we're on the right track"
All this allowed them a certain amount of reassurance. "The second goal put the game beyond them and that let us put the ball down and play it around. There is still room for improvement but I think we're on the right track" continues "Dede" who, while relieved, knows what remains to be done.
"We wanted to win at all costs in front of our fans. It was imperative but couldn’t put extra pressure on ourselves either. It’s good but we cannot be reassured with one single victory. We have a complicated game coming up and we will really have to give the best of ourselves".
The recent quarter-finalist of the World Cup in South Africa is making a place for himself, even if he states that he is not "playing in (his) position of choice. And OM’s future offensive recruits do not worry him: "You need competition in football. I have the chance to be able to play in a number of positions. The aim is that those who are here give the best of themselves and to put those who arrive in the best possible conditions".
A fine example of character for this boy of just 20 years. The OM will need it.
