Speaking at the presentation to the media of new OM coach Elie Baup at the club's pre-season training camp in Crans Montana, Marseille sporting director José Anigo reacted to recent supporter concerns: "I understand that supporters can be concerned. Living in Marseille, I meet people all the time and they're worried and that's normal because we haven't recruited any new players and until today, we had no coach, because we only found out at the last minute that Didier Deschamps was leaving," he said. "But it was also obvious that we had options to replace him, they just weren't necessarily released to the media. Our course was mapped out and we knew where we were going. As for the squad, it's the same one that reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League last season. We may have finished tenth in Ligue 1, but it's a quality squad and we know what additions need to be made."
"There will not be any departures, except for players that weren't in the starting line-up last season," he continued. "Between now and the end of the marcato, there will be one or two departures and as many or more arrivals. But the first priority now is to let the coach do his job, observe the squad and tell us what he needs."
