Jean-Marc Ferreri, Jean-Charles De Bono, Jean-Philippe Durand, Frédéric Mérieux and Frédéric Brando recall OM's current situation and predict the end of the season for Olympians while focusing on the French Cup.
Jean-Marc Ferreri

«Even if we obtain the ticket to Europa League, we've started badly in the championship. There are still 21 points at stake. The medal is unattainable and even if keep winning all matches until the end of the season, it will be very difficult to reach 4th, 5th or 6th place, depending on the Cup winners. I also hope we can rely on it by winning the French Cup or by taking advantage of the additional position in case PSG wins. The problem for this end of season is that even if we achieve excellent results, many teams are still competing for qualifying places for the European Cup.
«OM's biggest concern this season is right here. We have many opportunities in every match, but we don't score enough. The match we played in Bilbao is the perfect example to illustrate our season: we don't score anything at the Vélodrome stadium as usual and in the returning match we have to qualify with 2-0, but the tremendous mess in the attack costs us the qualification.
«As for the French Cup, if OM gets to the finals, it will certainly have to face PSG. Anything is possible in a match, even though it will be very complicated, Olympians are able to sublimate themselves during an encounter just like they did in the championship against the Parisians that have not been invincible since a couple of weeks ago.»

Jean-Charles de Bono

«Today I think we shouldn't talk about rankings, but the performance in the game. OM's priority is showing another face. We must be realistic and no longer think of the first 4 positions. We took very few points in the last few matches that were attainable. Nowadays, OM doesn't possess the qualities to play at the top. I tend to focus on the lower-ranked teams, although they will have many difficulties as well, especially with a lot of direct confrontations. A club like Olympique Marseilles doesn't belong to this position, but that's the reality of the moment. Players, staff and management have to implement a different strategy that will show a more attractive image and try to have fun.
«The good news can come from the French cup. Additionally we also play Sochaux away where it's generally better than home. This may be a good opportunity to restore confidence. Reaching the final of the French Cup could provide a breath of fresh air for OM. Players get the job done and achieve a great shot.»

Jean-Philippe Durand

«We must be rational. In my opinion, we shouldn't look at the ranking. What's important today is the team's performance and the things that happen in it. If the team wins upcoming matches, it will automatically going to back up so much that the ranking will become tight. This season in Ligue 1, if a team won 3 matches, it moved up 6 places in the ranking. Everything will come and go really fast, but today it's necessary to focus on the most important thing: the field.
«The French cup should be a goal, but OM shouldn't let go of the championship for all that. Our schedule is not overloaded. The semifinals of the French Cup won't be easy, but it offers the possibility to play the final match at Stade de France and it's also extremely important in terms of confidence and prestige. The French Cup could save a mediocre season overall. This season, we have a cup team, that is, a team capable of playing big matches under certain circumstances.»

Frédéric Mérieux

«It's worrisome. Many contracts are terminating and numerous loaned players worry me just as much because in this kind of situation, many players are tempted to take the credit for being more individualistic than usual. The club will not play in a reserved way, but if OM doesn't obtain these three missing points, there will always be this sword of Damocles hanging over our heads and the team will inevitably undergo psychological and media pressure. Therefore it's important to retrieve the quality of the game in order to move up a bit in the ranking and prepare for the French Cup's semifinals above all, just to take a glimpse at the finale which could happen next season in Europe. So, ending the season well is very important and the coach needs to maintain the group under control and under pressure.
«The French Cup is prestigious. OM's latest trophy from this competition dates back from 1989. A rendezvous at Stade de France, possibly against PSG, would definitely please the fans. We defeated Parisians twice this season. We are capable of winning the finals.»

Frédéric Brando

«In my opinion, there are good players in this squad. I think that we shouldn't be ashamed of the quality of our players compared to most higher ranked teams. However, we have a serious lack of confidence that caused this streak of bad results, such as this series of more than six months without a victory at the Vélodrome Stadium in the championship. As for the rankings, Europe is moving away further and further and that's a fact. OM is 7 points away from the 6th place and 6 points away from Gazelec. It's right in the middle. Seven points go away really fast, even if I'm not a dreamer. It actually takes back on the quality of the game. Olympians acquire many opportunities, but somehow fail to realize them. It's never absent in the defense. We always create opportunities, but completely ineffectively. We will regain confidence and move up some places by the end of the championship.»
