A little less than eight months after their last at home win in the Ligue 1, the OM has tasted the joys of victory in front of their supporters.

Seven months and three weeks. That´s how long the Marseille supporters had to wait in order to see their team win at home in Ligue 1. This Saturday afternoon, Passi's men have (finally) won in a Velodrome Staduim with empty corners, facing Reims, which pushes them a little closer towards the Ligue 2.

During the Olympians last outing at the Velodrome Stadium, facing Nantes, and already with closed turns, a long observation round had taken place before the match had even started. Against Reims, it was only a few seconds, two minutes to lose everything. The Champenois opened the attack with a head throw from Rigonato, which went just a little wide on the side. The rest of the first half had a roll of opportunities for Marseille. On their legs, Passi's men multiplied the beautiful collective movements, with rebates, offsets and one-touch plays, but they where either caught before concluding, or fell directly over Agassa. Rare were the Olympians who didn't try to score. Batshuayi, Mendy, Barrada, Alessandrini and specially Fletcher tried their luck. The Scottish had two great chances to open the scoring, but lost his face to face with the Reims goalkeeper in the first try, and missed the frame by a little on the second. Despite displaying a pleasant offensive, Marseille didn't find the way, and both teams returned to the locker room on a goalless draw, while the spectators at the Velodrome Stadium booed and whistled.

The second half debuted just as the first... with a Champenois move. But fortunately for the OM, De Preville went wide. Behind, the OM created two very good chances, but Batshuayi as well as Alessandrini cleared with their heads. However, the Belgian was not short of efforts, and it ended up paying off. Heroic as ever, Agassa would jeopardize the chances on his own, with a great mistake of interpretation. The Champenois goalkeeper lost control of a bounce back ball from one of his defenders, and found himself pressured by Batshuayi. The Olympian attacker took advantage of the goalkeeper´s release and the ball spun into the net. A logical and well deserved opening of scoring, since the Olympians had dominated the match.Relegated at this point of the match, the Reims players had not given up yet. Kankava forced Mandanda to make a great save of a long ball, but it was almost all from the Guion men, Charbonnier shot wide ten minutes from time. Entries from Sarr, Cabella and Zambo Anguissa allowed the Olympians to be in charge of their advantage. They still had a few scares but managed to keep the advantage on the scoreboard.

The OM thus, ends its season with a home win, the first in Ligue 1 at the Velodrome stadium in 2016... Too bad it was only witnessed by 20767 spectators.
