The summer mercato

The transfer market for summer 2016-17 for France and League 1 & 2 championships opens on June 9th 2016 at midnight and closes on September 3rd at midnight.

The winter truce

The winter truce is scheduled from Thursday December 22nd to Saturday January 7th 2017.

International truces

From August 29th to September 6th, 2016
From October 3rd to 11th, 2016
From November 7th to 15th, 2016
From March 20th to 28th, 2017
From June 5th to 13th, 2017

The 2017 ACN

The 2017 Africa cup of Nations will take place from January 14th to February 5th, 2017.

The first game of the season.

The events of the first day of League 1 are scheduled on Friday, August 12th, Saturday, August 13th and Sunday, August 14th, 2016. To celebrate it, OM will welcome Toulouse at the Velodrome stadium.

Shocking facts

The first shock of the OM season will take place on Sunday, September 18th at 9pm at the Velodrome stadium, while welcoming Lyon (5th day)
On Sunday, October 23rd, 2016 the Olympians will go to the Parc des Princes to confront PSG (10th day).
During the return phase, OM will go to Lyon on Sunday, January 22nd at 9pm (21st day) and will welcome PSG on Sunday, February 26th at 9pm (27th day).

The southern games

OM will play the 4 one-way phase derbies outside and so they will play the 4 return derbies home.

The games against the promoted

Nancy, Dijon and Metz are returning to League 1 this season. The Olympians will confront them from mid October, against Metz, and will then welcome Nancy and go to Dijon in the same week in early December. On the return phase, the trip to Lorraine in early February promises to be very cold.

The introduction of the League into the cup

Not qualified for any European competition, OM will start its League cup campaign in the first leg, on Wednesday, October 26th 2016, three days after its trip to Paris (10th day).

The last game of 2016 at the Velodrome stadium

The Olympians will welcome Lille on Saturday, December 17th for their last game of 2016 at the Velodrome stadium.

OM will end 2016 outside with a trip to Bastia on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016.

The entry to French cup

The Olympians will start their French cup campaign on Saturday or Sunday, January 7th or 8th, 2017.

The calendar characteristics

This season, OM will dispute 2 cycles of 2 consecutive meetings outside. First, with trips to Monaco in early November (14th day), then to St Etienne 3 days later (15th day). During the return phase, OM will take 2 trips in a row in late April, to Nancy (34th day), then to Caen (35th day).
However, the Olympians will only have one cycle of 2 consecutive home meetings between Saturday, February 18th (OM-Rennes, 26th day) and Sunday, February 26th (OM-PSG, 27th day).

Games during the week

In 2016-17, 4 days of championship games are scheduled during the week. OM will do the 3 one-way phases outside, and the only return phase home.

Wednesday, December 21st 2016 - 19th day: Bastia-OM

Last day of League 1

The 38th and last day of championship will take place on Saturday, May 20th 2017. For this occasion, OM will welcome Bastia at the Velodrome stadium.

The finals

The League cup final will take place on Saturday, April 1st, 2017.

The French cup final will take place on Saturday, May 27th, 2017.

The games whose dates are already scheduled

Except for the national cup finals and the 1/8 round, which will have to take place on Wednesday, October 26th since PSG-OM is on Sunday, October 23rd, double encounters against Lyon & PSG and 37th & 38th day of League 1, all the other dates will be chosen 3 weeks prior to each meeting.

The game distribution per month

At least 40 official meetings will be organized with OM this season. Maximum will be 49.

August: 3 League 1 games
September: 4 League 1 games
October: 4 League 1 games and 1 League 1 cup game (1/8 round)
November: 4 league 1 games
December: 4 League 1 games and maybe 1 League 1 cup game (1/8 round)
January: 3 League 1 games and 1 French cup game and maybet 2 League 1 cup game (semi and demi finals)
February: 5 League 1 games and maybe 1 French cup game (1/8 round)
March: 3 League 1 games and maybe 1 French cup game (round of 16)
April: 5 League 1 games and maybe 1 League cup game (final) and maybe 2 French cup games (semi and demi finals)
May: 3 League 1 games and maybe 1 French cup game (final)
