Fifth in the 2016-17 edition of League 1, OM will play in the Europa League 2017-2018 starting from the third qualifying round.

By beating Bastia 1-0 on the final day of the 2016-17 League 1 at the Orange Velodrome, Olympique of Marseille gained its ticket to the Europa League 2017-18. The Marseille team will start this competition in the third qualifying round that will take place on July 27, 2017 for the away leg and August 3, 2017 for the return leg. If they pass this round, they will play in the play-offs (away on August 17th, return on August 24th) which will determine the teams that will play the group stages, whose draw will take place on August 25th in Monaco. The first matches of the group stage will take place on 14 September.
The final of the Europa League 2017-18 will be held in France, at Parc OL de Lyon on 16 May 2018.
