Selection Valais-OM: first match for the 2017-8 season.01 jul 2017
After starting training again on Monday the 26th of July, the Olympians got to work. And the least we can say is that they're keeping up the rhythm. After their match at the Orange Velodrome, they've been going through a whole battery of tests and medical exams. Then they were flown to Switzerland. In Saillon, where the Marseillais have been training since Wednesday and will be up to the 5th of July, they've been having twice-daily sessions. On the menu is physical training to build on the foundations of a successful season, but also game tactics. Between exercises, bit by bit, Rudi Garcia and his men will dive in with some tactical workshops.
Six days after the recovery, the Marsellais are already ready to go. It should be said that in 26 days, they'll be on the bridge at the first leg of the third qualifying Europa League tour. So they need to move quickly.
On Saturday, everything that they have been working on since the start of the week can be put into practice during an exciting match at the end of the afternoon at the Saint-Laurent stadium in Sailon. The Olympians will be playing against various players from Valais, the region of Switzerland where they are currently training. For the Marseilles coach, this match, the first of the 2017-2018 season, will probably act as a squad review. He'll have the time to test various combinations and to see his players, including the first recruit of the Valère Germain summer transfer season, on the pitch. He can also give some game time to his younger players (Sari, Chabrolle, Abdallah, Zakouani...).
Basically, this match will be be a great base for the next phase of the Olympian's preparation.
