The curse has lasted 40 years, and it will last one season more. Since 1 st October 1977, OM has not managed to win in Bordeaux, now 33 games. But the Olympians have not lost and with this draw there is the scent of victory. The Marseillais' chased the score for more than 90 minutes after they quickly conceded a goal. As early as the 3 rd minute, the Marseille midfielder lost a ball recovered by De Préville who converted a long pass to Mandanda. The Bordelais, arrived this summer in the Gironde, scored his first goal of the season ...
In the absence of the suspended Gustavo, Rudi Garcia partnered with Zambo Anguissa and Sanson with the recovery. The two players took a few minutes to find their mark and the locals took advantage of it from the start. The Olympians tried to react, but they lost the ball too many times to prove to be truly dangerous. Payet, returning from an injury that kept him out of action for nearly a month, put over a cross for Ocampos but the Argentinian did not deviate enough to worry Costil. The Reunionnais was trying to make up the difference with his free kick, but his long kick was saved by the Girondin goalkeeper. At the end of the first half, on a cross from Sanson, Mitroglou's header was not on target.

Rudi Garcia had warned that Payet did not have 90 minutes in his legs. The OM coach replaced him with Lopez for the second half. A half-time much better approached by the Marseillais. Thauvin forced a hand ball by Costil. Thauvin, as always, was at the drop of a very good cross from Sanson but the French international missed the net. Finally after a nice collective action, Mitroglou headed the ball, but missed the net.
The Bordelais', who remained on three consecutive defeats, gave body and soul to resist the white waves and keep the advantage. The pace dropped after 60 th minute, the game was messier with the errors that followed, and the cards were raining down (5 in the first half hour of the second period).
To try to galvanise his attack, Rudi Garcia brought in Germain, in the place of Zambo Anguissa, then Sarr, in the place of Sakai. The Olympians were more easily faced with a Bordeaux team, who, wanting to keep the score, were more coherent. Distrustful and attentive on the Girondins attacks, the Marseillais' seldom scored, but they had several interesting opportunities. On the last of them, at the last second, Sanson finally found the weakness and allowed OM to snatch the point for a draw.

Thanks to a stunning second half, the Olympians take a point from the Bordelais' turf. They continue their series with an eighth meeting without defeat (5 wins, 3 draws) and remain fourth in the rankings, two points behind Lyon (ranked third).
