In the first match of the competition, the France's U19 team featuring Olympien Boubacar Kamara lost 2-1 to Ukraine.
 In Finland, the France U19 team started the Euro U19 with a defeat.
 
In Vaasa, Les Bleus conceded a goal in the 13th minute by Tsitaishvili. They reacted quickly, equalizing 10 minutes later thanks to a goal by Guitane. Despite a second half rich in chances for both sides, it was the Ukrainians who prevailed as the French were reduced to 10. Buletsa scored the winner in the 86th minute.
 
Defender Boubacar Kamara played the full 90. He received a yellow card in the 12th minute.
 
On Friday at 19:30 in Vaasa, France will next face Turkey.
