The side turned a corner after a difficult few weeks to register a morale-boosting victory over Dijon

Olympique de Marseille returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Dijon FCO in the 13th round of fixtures in the Ligue 1 Conforama on Sunday evening.

After a tough few weeks both at home and in Europe, the onus was on OM to produce a momentum building performance ahead of the international break at the Orange Velodrome.

And against Dijon, the hosts were in control from the beginning, as Florian Thauvin and Kostas Mitroglou saw efforts saved by Runarsson.

OM perhaps should’ve opened the scoring earlier than they did, but the patience was rewarded in first half stoppage time when Adil Rami headed in from Dimitri Payet’s corner to give his side the lead. However, it seemed to have nicked off of Lucas Ocampos who was later awarded the decisive touch.

The second half proved more of the same as Ocampos and Dimitri Payet combined to break past the visitors’ defence. But the game settler did game, five minutes from time as Rami headed in from a loose ball in the box to seal the three points for OM.

OM move up to 6th in the Ligue 1 Conforama after this victory.
