Olympique de Marseille secured a come from behind 3-1 victory against Amiens SC at the Stade de la Licorne on Sunday evening thanks to Florian Thauvin’s hat-trick.

OM welcomed back Rolando to the starting eleven, with the Portuguese international out since May with a serious injury. Having won against Dijon just before the break, the onus was on the side to continue momentum against Christophe Pelissier’s men.

But that didn’t go exactly to plan after Dibassy’s eighth minute opener for Amiens, with the player tucking away a strike just in front of goal having been fortuitous with the trajectory of the ball evading the defensive line.

OM slowly got into gear though, with Regis Gurtner saving well from Florian Thauvin and Lucas Ocampos in the first half.

The breakthrough came just before the half-hour when on a counterattack, Thauvin turned his marker well and fired a stinging left footed effort past Gurtner.

Amiens remained resolute throughout the second half as Gurtner weathered a veritable OM storm before Thauvin struck a brilliantly taken free-kick in the 80th minute to hand OM the lead.

They had the chance to extend the lead just minutes later when Payet was felled in the box, but the penalty taken by the captain was saved by Gurtner.

But Thauvin was not done yet as he curled another deft left-footer in a brisk counter in stoppage time to seal his treble.

OM  move up to 5th in Ligue 1, just one point off the podium. Rudi Garcia’s men travel to Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday.
