Olympique de Marseille won for the third consecutive time in a comfortable 2-0 victory over Amiens SC in the Saturday sunshine at the Orange Velodrome.

After the successes over Dijon and Bordeaux, Rudi Garcia’s men were looking for a triple run for the first time this season, but it was the visitors who had started the brighter.

Lucas Ocampos spurned a stunning chance inside five minutes before Jordan Amavi went close with a low drive as OM began to turn the tide.

Florian Thauvin struck the opener after some good work in midfield to reclaim the ball, the winger operating a neat left footed finish to beat Gurtner and put OM deservedly ahead.

The second game just five minutes later as Mario Balotelli expertly controlled an aerial ball with a no-look control and finish to get his third in four games at the club.

OM continued to push for a third, with Ocampos, Amavi and Lopez getting close. A third did eventually come through Balotelli, but the VAR chalked off the effort for offside.

OM soar to fourth place provisionally, now only six points behind the final Champions League qualification spot. The team travels to Rennes next.
