In its first Euro U17 match in the Republic of Ireland, the French drew against England, 1-1, last Friday. Olympien Isaac Lihadji entered play in the 81st minute, replacing Nathanael Mbuku.

Les Bleus second game in Group B took place on Monday at Tallaght Stadium in Dublin against Sweden. Leading twice in the first half, Jean-Claude Giuntini's players managed to come back to the score before taking the advantage in extra time, just before the break. They widened the gap 10 minutes from the end of the game to win 4-2. Lihadji started against the Swedes. He was replaced by Kelian Nsona Wa Saka in the 73rd minute.

In Group B, France's U17s are second with 4 points, just behind the group-leading Netherlands, which is the next opponent for les Bleus on Thursday, May 9. One point is enough for France to qualify. The top two in each group will qualify for the quarter-finals.

In addition, the UEFA Euro U17 team will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2019 to be held from 5-27 October in Brazil. Indeed, the four semi-finalists and the winner of a play-off between two quarterfinalists will be offered a ticket for the U17 World Cup.
