The Greek international on his return from injury, scored the winner just 35 seconds after coming to seal the win for OM

OM scored late into the second half to secure a narrow 1-2 win away to Toulouse at Stadium Municipal.

Fresh off Thursday’s impressive win against Athletic Bilbao, Rudi Garcia made a couple of changes - with Florian Thauvin injured and Dimitri Payet on the bench. Kostas Mitroglou returned from injury, but only made the substitutes.

As was customary in recent weeks, OM made a fast start in the Pink City - Lucas Ocampos got on the end of a fine cross from the left to turn in past Alban Lafont after just ten minutes.

OM almost had a second soon after, Valere Germain was denied by Lafont before Luiz Gustavo’s effort was also thwarted by the young goalkeeper.

As the half wore on, Toulouse grew more confident - and thus scored with their first real shot on goal. Max Gradel’s speculative ball in the box was finished by Firmin Mubele at the far end.

Steve Mandanda produced a number of world-class stops to deny Toulouse, who continued their onslaught in the second half. Somalia, Yaya Sanogo and Gradel all had chances, but the goalkeeper did superbly to keep OM level.

In the 78th minute, Mitroglou came on for his first appearance since coming back from injury. 35 seconds later, the winner was struck!

With Dimitri Payet racing through on the wing, he fed the Greek international across goal, before Mitroglou finished the job with a powerful finish.

OM remain 5 clear of Lyon in 3rd place before the two sides meet in a massive game for Champions League qualification next week.

Before that, OM will need to negotiate the second leg against Athletic Bilbao in the UEFA Europa League last 16.
