With over 74.3% of the 17,418 votes cast, Florian Thauvin wins the vote for Olympique's Player of the Season 2016-17 hands down. He finishes ahead of Bafétimbi Gomis (5.88%) and Yohann Pelé (5.18%)
1 | Florian Thauvin - 74.37%

Olympique's Player of the Month for August, September, October, December, March, and April, it's only logical that Florian Thauvin would be your Player of the Season for 2016-17. Your votes left no room for doubt.
With fifteen goals and ten assists across all competitions even before the final day of the championship, OM's number 26 has completed his best-ever season from a statistical perspective, as well as winning him a place in the French national team. His decisiveness, consistency, and high level of effort have cemented his leading role as an attacking player since his return to the club in 2016. At the age of 24, Thauvin has always worked hard, but he combines that with a new maturity, with greater experience, and his complicated experience in Newcastle has had a constructive effect.
As well as being the darling of the stands, FloTov has never eased off in his quest for success with a club that is close to his heart. Today, he has earned his reward.

2 | Bafétimbi Gomis - 5.88%

The panther has roared like never before this season in League 1. With 20 goals and four assists to his name across all competitions, Bafé Gomis rapidly silenced his critics, sharpening Olympique's attack in his own right, from one goal to the next, even managing a personal best for the number of league goals in one season (19), at the age of 31.
He is a natural leader, both on the pitch and in the dressing room. Rudi Garcia got it right by naming him captain as soon as he arrived. His motivational speeches and his professionalism, day in, day out, have inspired the younger players by his example.
Exemplary in all respects, Gomis takes his place on the podium of your favourite Olympians of the season. Any other result would have been a surprise!

3 | Yohann Pelé - 5.18 %

A modest man in his private life, the Albatross prefers to leave any flamboyance for the pitch. Many people didn't rate his chances of following in the footsteps of the Olympian legend that is Steve Mandanda. After watching him play, the sceptics fell silent. His seventeen clean sheets in the league are unmatched anywhere in Europe.
Matches without a decisive save from him were few and far between this season. Without going too far back in time, it is enough to recall his efforts against Bordeaux on the 37th day of play, where he made several decisive saves. In total, before hosting Bastia, Yohann Pelé has made 99 saves and diverted 81 balls. His lack of a trophy from the professional footballers' union, the UNFP, was an anomaly. His presence on the podium of your favourite Olympians of the season is richly deserved.
