On match day 5 of the Ligue 1 Conforama in September 2018, Dimitri Payet scored an unforgettable goal against Guingamp at the Orange Velodrome (4-0). As the clock struck the 73rd minute of play, Les Olympiens won the ball and popped it into the Guingamp half, about twenty meters from goal on the left side - where Payet produced a superb volley off his right foot right and directly into the back of the net.

Johnsson, the Guingampan goalkeeper, had no chance. The goal's greatness lived on through viral posts and praise on social media.

With half the votes, Payet's is now the Goal of the 2018-2019 season. The Olympien has now claimed back-to-back honours after nailing the  2017-2018 award against Leipzig in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League.
